STAGE FOUR: The Pitch | 9th February
Prior to the pitch we had emailed Luis from Nana Mexico and arranged to have a meeting to discuss our three designs. We met up with him on Tuesday and showed him our van poster and final postcard designs on A3 paper.
In the meeting Luis gave us feedback on each design and told us what we could do to improve them for his franchise.
Luis told us that he liked each of the designs and gave us some specific information about the poster design he was after. He wanted a poster with something on it that would sup up his company in a image or logo. For example, everybody knows the brand of McDonalds because of the golden arches. This gave us something to think about for our final designs, as we wanted to include a memorable element to our designs.
Luis gave us feedback on each of the designs and then decided for us to continue with the Perforated Postcard design.

STAGE FOUR: A1 Display
At the end of the design and deliberation period our designs were finalised and laid out on an A1 sheet in chronological order by when they were designed and for which type of display, we decided to lay the poster out the way we did because it displayed our work in the best light it can be displayed it. We felt it gave the viewer an impression of the progression from original design to the final that we used.

Advert Research & Institutional Study | Final Presentation
The presentation was created and exported through Keynote.
Print and TV
The use of both print and TV Advertisements are well utilised within the campaign moreover they interlink and create a more clear image to the viewer of the overall campaign and the message behind it.
The campaign been introduced in alternative formats for example radio and podcast would be ideal as it would present a different view of the advert for example there could be links within the radio advert and the TV advert that promote the message more. This could be utilised within the two adverts relating for example there could be a competition element added between hearing the radio ad and seeing the physical advert displayed in poster form. Interlinking format choices can relate the viewer more to certain issues that are discussed within it.

STAGE THREE: Postcard Production Schedule
Form Content and Style
Form
As one of our three designs we also decided to design a postcard that can be used as a promotional item in which a customer breaks off the side of the card and takes a picture of it and then shares it to become part of a nationwide competition that they can then win prizes and free meals through.
Content
The advert in terms of content consists of two main background colours with the inclusion and the use of bold and striking titles and title colours as well as tag lines and hashtags in different colours to draw in people walking past and get the most attention and views. It was important to remember the use of bright colours and bold text as it draws people in.
Style
With the first initial design we wanted to square off essential edges that we knew would add detail to in the later designs and final design.
Design Leading up |
Final Postcard Design |
The target audience for the postcard is a wide range of people specifically students and tourists that are passing through the city moreover people that are constantly on the move.
Additionally people looking to diversify their lunch breaks instead of having the regular subway or Mcdonalds.
Market Position
There is a gap in the market for postcard hand outs in cambridge at the moment. The uniqueness and quirkiness of the idea with a perforated edge is perfect to get in a new consumer base that will return to Nana Mexico.
Costings
The postcards can be produced in many different quantities but we have got some realistic quotes for the costings of the cards. 5,000 of the perferated cards will cost £299.48 including VAT and delivery. For 10,000 the cards will cost @399.98. The postcards would be effective when being viewed as the card can be viewed when given out and people walking will continue to look at it and this will let them see what is on offer and give them a greater taste for the products on offer.
Budget
The budget for creating the postcard with labour included total is £800 and that includes a break down of 400 for labour and 400 for items included with the package.
Time Scale
The Time Scale for the project would be a breakdown over a number of weeks four weeks three for the design period and one to get it to the printers to be put onto the van. consisting evaluation periods and implementation periods in which discussion of final designs and implementation and how that would happen.

As one of our three rough designs we decided to design an A1 Poster. When discussing the van and the A1 Poster we took into account the key elements that are predominant throughout the site as well as on his current logo and poster through these discussions we then worked out what should be vitally important to include within the poster designs. This development stage is reflected throughout our drafts leading into the final design.

Content
The content of the advert is a series of colours leading into one with the companies logo and tagline at the bottom. We decided to lay the poster out this way because we felt that it would get the most attention from people and it would most utilise the views we do get on the advert. The tagline at the bottom is in bold letters as it was important that viewers remember that part of the company and the fact they do create Unique fresh and genuine food.
Style
We decided to style the advert the way we did because it added not only diversity to the advert but it gave a consistent overall house style. It was important for us to add different colours and diversity to the advert so that it stayed fresh and was something that people would remember.

STAGE THREE: Van Wrap Production Plan
Form Content and Style
Form
As one of our three rough designs we decided to design a van as Louis mentioned to us that he had new vans in and needed new designs for them. When designing the van we took into account the key elements that are predominant throughout the site as well as on his current logo and posters.
Content
We started by laying out each part of the van, then carefully selecting each part that should contain text or picture elements, it was important to make sure that they stayed within the panels on the cutout. This way made sure that it was clear and well laid out.
This is the final van design that I spent a lot of time perfecting with input in from group members getting their input into the design and what it related too.
Style
It was important for us to remember the authentic mexican routes through the food not just through the companies message of fast fresh food but through mexican culture, moreover through meetings with Luis this is what we had found out that he was passionate about.
Costings
To create a full van wrap to the standard of the above template it would cost £2000, moreover it costs to the higher end because of all the panel colours and text all over the van. There is separate costings for each individual bit of the van which makes choosing the final design difficult as we have to weigh up price and design.
Budget /Labour Costs
The costs of labour to wrap the van would be over a series of 2 months and would require a deposit of £700 prior to work starting, with discussion of final designs and how the van is going to look. Additionally an extra £6300 would need to be collected once work has commenced on creating the new van design, this is to ensure that the work is of highest quality materials and standards of practise. T
Time Scale
The wrap is over a period of 2 months and would consist of a series of consultations and meetings with Nana Mexico then leading through to getting the pieces made up and finally placed onto the van.
The van wrap needs a slightly longer lead in period as it is a more complicated design due to multiple panels.

Potential Market Position
The van would fit in with the market position of other fast food chains for example Subway and be seen moving around Cambridge and in between cities. It is important for us to have the edge on other companies for example Subway and Mcdonalds because Nana Mexico is a more individual brand and is more special to people, we would get the edge over these other companies by creating our van to be more bright and stand out above the competition.
Frequency
When it comes to effective frequency the van could not be as good as the postcards or posters as people may only see it once or twice whilst they are in town.
The van would be seen driving around locally in the town centre as well in between towns for possible stock pickups etc. This means that the van would be seen very frequently by many different types of people all over town.
Target Audience
The aimed target audience for this campaign is for tourists and shoppers who pass the Petty Cury store in Cambridge. The food is mainly targeted for lunch so we are targeting people who are out around lunch times. People can range from tourists, people shopping in the area and office workers going out for lunch. We want the customers to feel that what they are eating is fresh and a unique dish. The meals that they are receiving to eat are personal to them.

Legal and Ethical Issues | "Holidays are coming"
Adverts Impact
The adverts impact on the viewer is nothing negative moreover there is no offensive dialect or visuals that would upset a viewer of any age. Content of the advert is up beat and has a positive message so it would not offend anyone of any age.
Relevant Issues of Representation
Issues can include religious for example Santa being associated with Coca Cola and it being a religious drink as well as bells ringing at the beginning which can also present a religious dilemma.
Relevant Legal and /or Ethical Issues
Legally not understanding from the research that all the audio including the music and bells was commissioned and actually made by the Coca Cola company themselves to effectively avoid any legal confrontation. There are no ethical issues surrounding this advert.
Role of Relevant Regulatory Bodies
The ASA, Advertising Standards Authority, serves as the UK's filter to any unwanted on un ethical ads. Every ad that goes online or that features on TV goes through them to make sure they are fit for viewing throughout this process the ASA assess the adverts on a number of different criteria.
The Advertising Standards Authority is the UK’s independent regulator of advertising across all media. We apply the Advertising Codes, which are written by the Committees of Advertising Practice. Our work includes acting on complaints and proactively checking the media to take action against misleading, harmful or offensive advertisements.
The ASA play a massive role in making sure not only children are safe online but everyone that reads magazines, uses their mobile and browses the web, moreover they can immediately suspend an ad if it is seen as un ethical or morally wrong.

STAGE ONE: Backstitch | Consumer Research | Sophie T
Backstitch is one of around 5 based in Cambridge to sell haberdashery, such as sew creative, sheep shop, hobbiecraft and John Lewis. The main competition would highly likely be John Lewis which is quite a large establishment with its own large advertisements and branding to compete with. Backstitch was established in 2010 by Alice Synge with the mission to supply stylish modern craft fabric and quality haberdashery to UK sewists.
They advertise themselves on a number of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr and even have their own blog page to offer help, show what they make and to interact with customers more.
On the homepage to Backstitch, there is immediately an offer to try and get others interested in the merchandise, using special occasions as a way to put their name out there, even offering classes to help to make many products or to get more people interested in sewing.
The homepage itself is quite simple yet it does catch your eye by how unique it is, the page is well laid out with offers throughout the page and immediately you can see ways of contacting them. The site has many options to click onto, whether you want to know about fabrics, digital patterns, kits & gifts etc.
